The islands of the Bahamas offer American travelers a close-by Caribbean destination that is anything you want it to be - a 24/7 party, an outdoor adventure, or simply a chance to unplug and get away from it all.

Although it is an archipelago comprised of hundreds of islands and cays with pink sand beaches and crystal clear waters, there are three main ones that are popular with tourists: Grand Bahama, New Providence (home to its capital, Nassau) and Paradise Island. It should be noted that as it’s a British Commonwealth, you’ll need to make sure you pack your passport (and your MINX bikini!).

 

If you’re looking for a daytime pool party scene, then Breezes in Nassau is your place. While there is no specifically scheduled or themed party, the pool is where everyone hangs out and takes advantage of the convenient swim-up bar - which means there’s no need to cover up your MINX bikini in order to get your drink on.

Couples wanting a romantic Bahamas vacation should head to Sandals Royal Bahamian on New Providence Island. The resort is for adults only, so you won’t get splashed by kiddies cannon-balling into the pool and they treat you like royalty.

Of course, no guide to the Bahamas would be complete without bringing up Atlantis, the crème de la crème of Caribbean beach resorts. It can be a little chaotic to stay there for your vacation as its casino attracts cruise ship day trippers, so your best bet is to slip on your MINX bikini and go just for the day to have fun on their water slides, mile-long lazy river and as many of their 11 pools as you can!

Those looking to get down on New Providence Island will want to bypass Nassau and head to Cable Beach, where there are more exciting nightlife choices. Simply go where you feel the best vibe, it’s all a party there!

If you’d rather stay closer to Nassau, Kafé Kalik is a great open-air bar and grill, and Bambü, although only open on Mondays, Fridays and Saturdays, is rumored to be the club that’s most popular with locals and expats. Or head over to the Wyndham Crystal Palace, and bring your MINX bikini - they have a floating island dance floor IN their pool!

The Bahamas offers similar activities as other Caribbean islands - dolphin encounters, snorkeling, SCUBA diving, fishing and more. Ask your resort or hotel staff for recommendations or sponsored tours.

If you’re going for the holidays, don’t miss Junkanoo on December 26 and January 1. On both days it’s a citywide party in Nassau that features vibrant costumes, raucus Junkanoo music and dancing in the streets. Soca and Calypso music are the other kinds you’ll hear at the bars and clubs throughout the islands, a refreshing break from Reggae.
